Extraordinary Means of Providing Life: We Have Only One Life to Live...

In the latter years of one’s life it is necessary to make certain decisions regarding quality of life in their final years.  A specific dilemma that one comes across is the idea of extraordinary means of prolonging life.  If there were to be an emergency in which one could not support life on one’s own and needs to rely on “extraordinary means” to survive (life support).  It is a difficult and controversial decision to make, whether one wants to live “artificially” or live life as they were “destined” to.  While a lot of it is subjective and depends on the person in the situation, legacy does have something to say about it.

In terms of legacy, and this does not necessarily reflect the ideas of this experimental group, it is something intangible that is created and maintained after someone no longer has the chance to alter the actions that they have committed.  If prolonging life means that the person will take longer to pass on, it essentially prevents one’s legacy from forming.
